Pilates Is For Everyone And Here’s Why

by anonymous user on June 4, 2010

What is Pilates?

Pilates is an extremely well known kind of workout that in certain techniques is close to Yoga or Tai Chi, in that the work outs are deliberate and controlled, emphasizing correct breathing and also correct posture throughout. This places very little stress on the back and the joints, whilst creating much better muscle tone, causing a strengthening as well as lengthening of the spine.

Where Did Pilates Come From ?

Pilates was initially developed more than ninety years ago by it’s inventor Joseph Pilates during, and in the years following the first World War. Back then he had been hoping to assist injured soldiers to recover, regain movement, improve strength and also increase stamina. It is a complete exercise program concentrating on correct breathing and slow controlled movements.

A Complete Exercise Workout

Even though the emphasis of pilates is actually on conditioning the core muscles of the body, that is the muscle groups in the abdominals as well as the back. pilates is a total fitness program. Pilates will help you maintain strength and flexibility, tone the abs and pelvic floor muscles as well as stimulate good conditioning.

Pilates Is Safe For anyone?

Its increasing attraction has created a large group of dedicated followers, which includes Hollywood celebrities, health and fitness experts as well as professional athletes. The truth is that pilates is suited to everyone: from the really fit to the not so healthy, the very young to the people in their senior years. Pilates is actually endorsed by numerous physicians.

Will Pilates Increase Muscles ?

Pilates is really a physical fitness work out which builds overall flexibility, strength and endurance with out increasing muscular mass through concentrating mainly on the abdominal, hip and back muscles, known as the core muscles of the body.

Where Can I Learn About Pilates?

Because of it’s popularity pilates classes can be found in most towns and cities everywhere. Gyms, health and fitness clubs, keep fit classes and so on are now almost all providing some type of pilates training.

A Pilates Studio

Many people decide to learn pilates within a professional pilates studio. In the event that you choose to learn this way, you will get the best possible start. Many studios offer 1 on 1 pilates training and as with learning anything new, it is usually better to learn from a professional first.

What About Learning Pilates At Home ?

After you have mastered the basics from a pilates instructor, you can then continue your personal pilates workout at home. There are lots of video tutorials as well as DVDs that you are able to buy to work out along to at home, but do keep in touch with your pilates teacher and train along with them once in a while. You’ll find they will always show you things a DVD or training video isn’t able to.

Lose Weight with Nintendo Wii Fit. Which Game is Best?

by anonymous user on May 28, 2010

Over 21 million American families have turned to Wii Fit to burn calories and promote fitness in their households. It is encouraging to see that families are at least trying to promote fitness in their household; but it begs the question, how many calories can you expect to burn with the Wii Fit?

The American Council on Exercise recently published a brief review of this topic and I wanted to provide you with some of the highlights. In the study, six Wii Fit activities were tested for how they impact caloric expenditure and cardiovascular fitness. Below I have listed some of the main findings:

  • Island Run and Free Run yielded the best energy expenditures allowing the participants to reach 60% of their maximum heart rate.
  • Both games burned nearly 5.5 calories per minute (165 calories/30 minutes).
  • Free Step burned 3.3 calories per minute (99 calories/30 minutes).
  • Advanced Step burned 3.6 calories per minute (108 calories/30 minutes).
  • Super Hula Hoop burned 3.7 calories per minute (111 calories/30 minutes).
  • Rhythm Boxing burned 3.8 calories per minute (114 calories/30 minutes).
  • None of the games produced improvements in cardiorespiratory endurance.

So, based on this information, the Wii Fit burns a fairly mild number of calories compared to field or gym exercises. With that said, the fact that a child is performing some sort of physical activity rather than slumping on a couch and moving their thumbs all night is an improvement. Everything counts! More and more research is coming to light about a concept called Non-Exercise Activity Time (NEAT); the term NEAT includes all activity that occurs during the day that does not involve actual exercise.

Researchers show that fit people move more all day long; they fidget, they stand, they walk, they sway…they just naturally move more! Although the Wii Fit would technically fall into the exercise realm; an argument could be made that the perception of play takes the stress out of the exercise label…resulting in instant NEAT. It is my belief that we should promote exercise on top of the Wii Fit, meaning that we should not rely on the Wii as our primary source of activity. With that said, I believe that this could be a fun addition to a healthy household allowing the entire family to bond and compete around a NEAT, gaming idea.

This topic is a major topic being discussed in the weight loss blogs. I hope that this discussion helps people.

Get Your Workout Done Faster and Burn More Calories

by anonymous user on May 26, 2010

I know you already know this, but if you want to lose body fat and see results it is important to burn more calories than you’re taking in. One way is through exercise, but do you know which form of cardio is the most efficient for burning fat and calories?

First things to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t rely on aerobic workouts (cardio) to give all the results you want. Weight training is vital when it comes to increasing your metabolism for days post workouts, for toning your muscles and helping to give faster and more consistent results than cardio workouts.

Running is the most common form, then there are the ellipticals, stair steppers, swimming and so on. But here’s one you might not have thought of and it can burn twice the calories in half the time than the things mentioned above:

Jump Roping

It’s not just for kids and boxers! Jumping rope burns massive calories and depending on your weight and the intensity that you can jump you have the potential to burn upwards of 200 calories in ten minutes!

Intervals are ideal for jump roping because it burns even more calories and allows you to go for a great time. For 30-60 seconds to all out as hard as you can jump and then rest for a minute or two. Repeat the intervals for a total of 20-25 minutes. By time you’ve finished you will see the difference between the rope and the running. The extra bonus with intervals is that you will burn more calories and more body fat than you though possible for amazing results.

Also try it for an active rest. Next time you are letting your muscles rest during your workout, grab a jump rope and go at a moderate pace for the length of your rest period. The muscles you were targeting will still recover a bit but you’re not wasting time when you could be burn calories.

Jump roping is a great piece of a fat burning workout, just remember that cardio is only one piece and for bigger and better results, strength training is crucial too.

The Truth About Abs Review

by anonymous user on May 9, 2010

This Truth About Six Pack Abs review is about a 100+page e-book authored by Mike Geary. It includes an intensive abdominals exercises program meant for removing fat around your belly and creating a flat nicely toned stomach or a rigid 6 pack if you wish to go that far. One thing I spotted after I obtained the handbook is a number of work outs are displayed utilizing expensive gymnasium machines. This is something I needed to do at home by myself and not having to sign up to a pricey health and fitness center.

Having said that the early disappointment was short lived however as in the first section Mike tackled the purpose of training devices in the program. Absolutely no such equipment are necessary. All of the work outs may be executed using a stability ball and some dumbbells, while a lot of the workouts need no equipment whatsoever. As a result in order to get the most out of the handbook you could have to pay out  $50 on a bit of simple exercise accessories.

The manual is crammed with material and could easily have filled a guide twice its size as most e-books ordinarily have larger font styles compared to this and have the info a lot more spaced out. And that means you get an abundance of information for your bucks. In actual fact I found it too much material to be read comfortably inside an e-book format and I made a decision to print it. This isn’t a book you are going to flick through in an hour or two, you will definitely need to have to come back to this over the days and weeks ahead. So full marks for amount of content.

Along with introducing many excellent routines they’re all put together in to a effectively considered and complete exercise regime. It’s meant to need between 30 to 50 minutes each day and used 3 to 4 days each week. There’s a great deal of information and facts in the guide with regards to diet and its significance in your abdominal workout regime.

The Truth About Abs a great training course that covers best abdominal exercises. Yet I really don’t think that an ebook alone is the most effective way to present the knowledge as it is possibly not generally immediately clear from the pictures and explanations the way to complete the exercises. It is understandable upon having read through the information and are able to imagine them, however it could have been a great deal of easier from a video tutorial structure. Also the handbook in spite of stating that the majority of the exercises do not require any special devices still looks like it’s written more for the benefit of those individuals with use of a gym. These aren’t really criticisms because it is hard to find fault with the data in the Truth About Abs. I simply need to help make it apparent this isn’t a product you are going to study for five minutes and start to put to use a few minutes afterwards. This is prepared for people who are going to be completely dedicated to the workout regime. The foremost strength of the Truth About Abs training course is additionally its greatest weakness. It over delivers, but at the price of making the training bloated that may well put many people off. Yet like I explained, should you be determined to acquire those dream ab muscles, then this is by far and away the very best solution obtainable i have ever discovered.

How to do Circuit Workout Routines

by anonymous user on May 8, 2010

What is circuit training? Right off the bat, one of the advantages of circuit training is that you can do it with out any equipment and you don’t need a fitness center, because this workout can be carried out with any kind of exercise  (including those with weights and machines, of course).

When you’re doing a circuit routine, you are doing sets of exercises without taking a rest in between. Every time you finish one set of an exercise, you immediately move on to the next exercise and perform a new set. Once you have completed the first “run” through the exercise-series, you begin with the first one again. You go around this circuit of exercises several times.

With “normal” exercise routines, you will be taking short breaks in between sets of an exercise. The reason for this is, of course, to allow each muscle some recovery time in between sets. At the same time, you stimulate each muscle group multiple times by doing more than one set of repetitions. Recuperation time is absolutely essential. Particularly when you are training to failure (i.e. do repetitions until you can’t move the weights anymore), then a recovery-period for the muscle tissue is something you can’t do without. Even if you wanted to, you couldn’t do a set to failure, instantly followed by another set of the same exercise.

With a circuit workout, you’re still granting each muscle enough time to recover, since you are constantly changing exercises. However, you are giving yourself an almost non-stop whole-body workout as you are not taking breaks in between the different exercises.

While this makes circuit training very tough, it’s also very beneficial. The higher overall intensity of your workout results in more energy burned, more growth stimulated and a stonger hormonal reaction (natural Testosterone) from your body. Because of this, circuit training regimens are very well suited to gain lean muscle mass.

Are there any disadvantages to circuit training? In a gym, it can be problematic, because the circuit routine relies on every set of weights and machine to be unoccupied when you need it. This workout method is also not one that should be done for the long-term, as the overall stress on your system might be too great. The best use of this kind of exercise is to do it occasionally, to give your body a new growth impulse with a new and intense workout. I recommend doing circuit routines for two weeks every two to three months.
