If you’ve resolved to get rid of excess weight, then you’ll have most probably have created some sort of exercise plan. If you haven’t exercised in a while, or never, you may not know how to get started. It could even be a little scary, commitment wise. But not to worry, there’s a simple way to get back into exercise: walking! You definitely must integrate walking into your exercise routine if you haven’t done so already.

There are lots of ways to fit walking into your everyday schedule. If you have a pet dog then take it for a walk around the block for no less than ten minutes. 10 minutes may not seem like a long time to walk, but over the course of a month, or even a week, it adds up quickly. You can double this by simply walking with your dog twice a day. If you don’t live too far away from work walk there, or at least some of the way. You can do this no matter how far you live from your workplace. Of course, you’ll have to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles your exercise – which is terrific! If you use the bus to get to your office, you can just try to begin using a stop that’s a little farther from either end. Adding more walking into your day-to-day routine is a cinch.

Walking is excellent for your body and general health. It is a body weight exercise.Because it’s an aerobic exercise, you’ll burn off calories, which means you’ll get rid of excess weight and it’s also beneficial for your heart. You shouldn’t be concerned about overworking your joints or muscles like when running, because you can go as slowly as you must. My brother is very slim (but he eats a lot of junk food) and I asked him how he stays thin. He tells me doesn’t know how he does it, but he mention that he goes for a walk daily. It all added up when he mentioned that. There’s no excuse not to exercise, when walking is extremely uncomplicated.

You’ll have a better likelihood of sticking with your walking regimen if you simply make it part of your day-to-day routine. Then, with a proper, healthy diet, you’ll also start losing weight as if by magic. As you start to get used to walking, you’ll notice that you’re definitely feeling more fit and, because it’s not that hard on you, your motivation will be enhanced also. The more frequent you walk, the more you’ll be inspired to walk . . . and the faster you’ll want to walk. This is great; go ahead and do it. Try walking at a faster pace or, if you’re feeling really positive, you could jog. And you can move on to even more difficult workout programs, if you want.

What else do you need to know? Are you excited to begin walking? No matter how busy you may be, you can surely find 10 minutes here and there for a quick walk. Another possibility is to join a gym and use their treadmills for a half hour or so every day.
