Are You Considering Weight Loss Surgery?

Is weight loss surgery for you?  Maybe, if you are constantly on a diet, forever attempting to lose weight.  You gain weight, lose it, then gain it back again.  Are you one of the ones who needs surgical weight loss?

Or will you be from the start?

Here are 3 questions to answer before deciding on if you should have one of the bariatric surgeries available.

Number 1:  Are You One Hundred or More Pounds Overweight?

While not written in stone, being 100 pounds overweight is generally the minimum for being though of for bariatric surgery.  However, if you have got a health condition (diabetes for example) that would be greatly improved by losing weight, the minimum pounds can be less.

Question 2:  Have You Tried Each Diet Imaginable?

Before being considered for surgery, you’ll need to have some kind of proof that you have tried and failed at multiple weight loss diets.

It’s best if you can actually document it — some examples might be Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, NutriSystem.  Why?  Because each will have proof of your involvement.

Simply saying you’ve tried every weight loss plan in the world may not do.

Question Three:  How Motivated Are You?

In different words, are you tired of being overweight?  Are you willing to perform no matter what is required to shed the pounds, however you need assistance doing it?

Once you have 1 of the weight loss surgeries, you will still have to follow a diet (yes, you heard right).  Plus quite probably have to follow it for the remainder of your life.

Are you willing to do this, or will double-bacon-cheeseburgers-with-giant-fries always be calling your name?  (And will you be answering the call?)  Not to say that you aren’t able to have a small splurge sometimes, however it can’t be a constant event.

Do You Wish to Have Weight Loss Surgery?

If you can answer yes to the 3 questions above, your next step will be to decide which of the 4 main weight loss surgeries is suited for you.  Each is slightly different plus is suited for various kinds of people.  No one surgical procedure is right for everyone.  For example, lap band surgery may be great for one person, while another might need gastric bypass  surgery to get the optimum results.

Bariatric surgery is expensive.  Plus life-changing.  Choose wisely, and you may be on the road to a healthier life plus more self-confidence.
