Effective and simple weight loss tips

by Guest User on January 2, 2011

A lot of people have one thing in common, once they decide to lose weight they want to lose it quick. When trying to lose weight losing it too fast isn’t always the best approach to go about it, simply because a number of the methods and fad diets used for losing weight rapidly can be unhealthy especially if you’re doing it for any period of time.

Having said that, there are a few key things that are recognized to help speed up weight loss without doing harm to your health:

Water for losing weight

Consuming a lot of water is an excellent way to help one’s body burn more fat, as well as release excess water you could have been retaining as well. Health professionals recommend drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of water daily, but even more than that is safe to consume as long as you don’t overdo it.

Avoid sugar

Processed white cane sugar has a negative effect on the body, namely because of the way it sharply increases blood glucose levels. this causes your pancreas to secrete insulin to bring blood sugar levels back to normal levels, and too much of this up and down fluctuation can wreak havoc on one’s body.

For losing weight fast, there are few actions more powerful than reducing your intake of white refined sugars (and its cousin, high fructose corn syrup) from your diet. If you happen to have a sweet tooth you’ll find that agave and honey is a little bit better but not by a lot.

You do not necessarily have to quit sweets completely – just simply choose healthier options to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Salt causes you to retain water

Lowering your sodium intake is another way to help you speed up losing weight, simply because consuming high amounts of sodium makes many people retain excess water weight. Not to mention that a diet plan high in sodium could lead to hypertension (high blood pressure).

Starving your body of food is bad

Most people normally believe that reducing their calories down to almost nothing is a good approach to lose weight fast, but all it does is kick their bodies into a survival mode and slow down their metabolic process.

A better approach is to consume lean, low-calorie foods on a regular basis during the day. You not only reduce the likelyhood of overeating, but it will keep your metabolic processes working much more consistently and burning fat a lot more efficiently. Not to mention you’ll have much more energy and your food cravings will feel a lot more satisfied throughout the day. Also including a moderate amount of heart-healthy monosaturated fats (like those found in olive oil and avocados) can stop you from feeling hungry.

Burn more calories

Aerobic exercises are known for their calorie-burning power, and effective weight loss plans will focus on creating a “calorie deficit”. To get rid of 1 lb you need to either decrease your calorie intake by 3500 calories, or work them off through physical activity such as exercise. a very effective technique is to do both rather than one to create a calorie deficit. So, if you decreased your calories by 250 daily (1750 weekly), and worked off 250 calories daily (1750 weekly), you would lose one lb that week. Which is a healthy and sensible way to lose weight. Instead of drastically trying to adapt to your body’s changes doing it slowly and gradually will help your body to adapt and you’ll be more likely to have long-term success.

Understand that other factors may come into play so some weeks you might lose more and other weeks you could lose less.

Fiber helps to satisfy your hunger

Most people don’t eat enough fiber and tend not to realize that it not only enhances weight loss, but has several healthy benefits as well. First, consuming high-fiber foods helps you feel not as hungry longer so you aren’t tempted to overeat. Fiber is also helpful in slowing down the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream, which minimizes the impact of high-glycemic foods and lessens the fluctuations in blood glucose levels. Lastly, a diet rich in fiber helps “keep things moving” in your intestinal tract so you clean your colon and remove waste easier.

Minimize stress levels

Lastly managing your stress levels better may also help you to lose weight faster. The hormone cortisol is prevalent in the stressed-out body, and cortisol plays a part in the build up of abdominal fat. It’s impossible to lead a totally stress-free life, but there are endless ways to better control your stress so it won’t cause havoc on your body. You can try meditating and doing deep breathing exercises or something such as yoga exercises or tai chi that makes you to breath more relaxed. Other forms of physical exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming, etc. also tends to be stress busters that help you to unwind.
