RegCure Registry Optimizer by ParetoLogic is by far the most popular registry cleaner software available on the market today. But as a consumer, you don’t really care about popularity. You care about results. Does RegCure actually deliver? Does it really make your PC faster and more stable by repairing a corrupt Windows Registry?
We decided to test Reg Cure extensively, and make our findings publicly available in this review.
How thorough is Reg Cure in detecting Registry problems?
- When you first launch Reg Cure, it will offer to automatically scan your PC’s Registry for errors such as orphaned entries, invalid items, and other garbage that slows down your machine. Quite frankly, we were amazed at the sheer number of problems RegCure was able to detect. On our testing laptop, Reg Cure identified 827 Registry problems, including invalid DLL entries, missing application shortcuts, empty Registry keys and more.
Our testing environment
- We did our tests on a pretty fast machine, a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo 2.60GHz laptop. However, this laptop had Windows Vista installed for over a year, and the system was getting pretty slow on the uptake probably due to numerous Registry errors. A perfect candidate for testing RegCure to see how well it performs!
How successful is Reg Cure in actually fixing the Registry errors it finds?
- Here’s one area that possibly needs a bit of improvement. Out of 827 errors we found, RegCure was able to fix 814 on the first take. As we performed another scan, we still found 13 additional problems. However, RegCure was able to successfully fix them on a second take.
Is Reg Cure fast in detecting Registry problems?
- RegCure works surprisingly fast, especially considering how deeply it scans your Registry for potential problems. The initial scan we performed was completed in under 2 minutes, and returned 827 Registry errors.
Did Reg Cure make our laptop faster?
- Actually, yes. Before we conducted a deep Registry scan using RegCure, and fixed all errors, our Vista laptop took 2 and a half minutes to boot — pretty sluggish for this fast machine.
- After RegCure repaired all Registry errors, the start up time for Vista Ultimate reduced to 1 minute and 10 seconds, an impressive 154% improvement in Windows boot up time. Needless to say, we were pretty happy with the test results, and will continue using Reg Cure on our machines to see how well it performs on a different hardware and different Vista versions.
