Everyone wants their health to be very good but not everyone has enough time to get in proper work outs and make sure this is possible. This is the reason that health experts are encouraging people to adopt the ten thousand step method. The idea is that you take at least ten thousand steps each day (walking) and that can help you get very healthy and cut down on the time that is required for exercise. Walking is often a brilliant and low impacting exercise. How often have you over heard “if he’d simply taken a walk around the block every now and then?”

Obviously walking ten thousand steps every single day is not going to be easy. That’s a lot! The good news is that you almost certainly already take nearly all of those steps each day already and don’t know it yet. All you have to do is learn how to add in a couple or few thousand extra steps to reach this goal. So how do you make it happen without resorting to simply walking back and forth all day long?
There are a number of totally obvious things you can do to take more steps. Taking the stairway rather than riding the elevator is a basic example of this. Parking at the far end on the parking lot is also recommended at the mall or the store. To further this plan, you might also stay parked in one spot and walk your shopping bags out to the car as you accumulate them-instead of carting them all over the shopping center as you run your errands. Taking public transit also can raise your step count as you will have to walk to your bus or train stop and then back home instead of just walking to your car. The most apparent way to do it, of course, is to just take a brief walk each day.
Some less evident methods to raise your step count are also available. Organize a market grocery list differently. Lots of people arrange their lists based on the aisles in their stores. Instead, plan your list into specific categories like produce, dairy and meat. Simply look along the list from here. You could find yourself making many trips back and forth across the store, but it is a great way to raise your step count. Instead of getting a mail box as part of your door or attached to your house, mount it on a post near to the curb. This can easily put a minimum of one or two dozen steps to your count when you check the mail each day.

There are lots of ways to take extra steps on a daily basis. As you get used to the idea of walking 10,000 steps a day you’ll think of excellent ways to get to this goal faster. Thankfully, every step you take–whether it’s walking to the refrigerator or running on a treadmill, counts toward your end step count goal. Have fun with it!
